Wind Power
The main activities of the company over the course of its life has been obtaining planning permissions and procuring Network Grid, both exceptional achievements in Ireland’s notoriously slow moving energy sector. The company has received planning permissions to erect clusters of wind turbines to make Athea (Co. Limerick) into one of Ireland’s largest green energy developments. Presently there are 19 turbines that are generating electricity. Further success was achieved in in obtaining planning consents for a further 52.5MW which will ensure a further 21 turbines are erected and generate electricity for approximately 15,000 homes.
Off Shore Wind Power
The company has submitted an application for a foreshore licence at the Glassgorman Banks in the Irish Sea. This site is particularly suitable to avail of the recent commissioning of the East West Interconnector and to avail of the opportunity to export green power to the United Kingdom and potentially to mainland Europe. Other benefits of the location of the Glassgorman Banks include low water depth levels and proximity to coast line thus controlling connection costs.
