Athea Windfarm Project

Athea Wind Farms are located in County Limerick, approximately 10km to the north of Abbeyfeale. This includes Gate 1 , Gate 2 and Gate 3. This wind farm consists of 31 turbines distributed south-eastwards from the summit of Knocknathea across Knocknagornagh to Dromada mountain to give an installed capacity of 79mw (plus 28mw). A combination of GE 2.5mw and GE 1.6mw are being installed on the site. The turbines are located between 176m and 220m above sea level to the south of Athea. The wind farm is located on a smooth ridge running west to east, with the highest elevation being near the summit of Knocknalaght at 227metres.
